ध्वनि

★ Here's how SAAVI teaches this:
💡 Example

Hey there! You know, when you ring the temple bell (ghanti) in the morning, or hear the school bell, have you ever wondered how that sound is actually made? Just try this — after ringing a bell, gently touch it. You'll feel it 'vibrating', right? That very vibration is what creates the sound! Next time you hear any sound, try to think about what must be 'vibrating' to make it?

⚠️ Misconception

❌ Many students often think that sound can be heard anywhere, whether there's air or not.

✅ But that's not quite right, didi. Remember how in your school's science lab, you might have seen a 'vacuum pump'? If we remove all the air from inside a bell jar using it, and then ring a bell placed inside, you won't hear any sound. This is because sound needs a 'medium' — like air, water, or any solid object — to travel from one place to another. It cannot travel in empty space. Think about it, if two people tried to talk to each other on the moon, would they be able to hear each other's voices?

🔬 Activity

Here's something fun you can try at home — grab two plastic cups and tie a thick string between their bottoms. Now, ask a friend to hold one cup to their ear, and you speak softly into the other cup. You'll be surprised how clearly the sound travels through the string! This shows that sound can easily travel through solid objects too. Can you think of any other simple ways we can make sound travel using everyday things?

लाख की चूड़ियाँ

★ Here's how SAAVI teaches this:
💡 Example

You know, have you ever noticed around your home or even in your village — what happened to the local potter who made clay pots by hand, or the cobbler who repaired shoes? — Nowadays, most of us buy readymade or factory-made stuff, right? So think — what happens to those artisans whose livelihood depended purely on their craft and their hands? — Do you think their skill will just disappear, or will it find a new way to survive?

⚠️ Misconception

❌ Sometimes, students think that artisans like Badlu, who made lac bangles, were simply old-fashioned and stubborn, refusing to adapt to new times and sell machine-made bangles, which eventually led to their downfall.

✅ But if you think about it, for Badlu, making lac bangles wasn't just a job — it was his skill, his identity, his honour, and his tradition. When cheap, machine-made bangles came along, the real value of his unique art seemed to fade. — He didn't want to 'disrespect' his craft by selling it cheaply. This wasn't stubbornness; it was his way of trying to protect his art and his pride, even if it meant facing challenges.

🔬 Activity

Here's an idea — try to find a handmade item in your home — maybe a clay diya, some hand-embroidered napkin, or even an old, hand-knitted sweater. — Now, compare it with a similar machine-made item. Socho zara — which one feels more 'unique' and 'special' to you, and what makes it so?
